Stereotactic Radiosurgery Comes to Plymouth

Stereotactic Radiosurgery remains a priority for Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust and staff have been working hard for many months in a bid to bring this project closer to realisation. We believe that developments in technology and  cancer care make this a very important future treatment. We are committed to doing our utmost to make it happen but clearly we have to work with the finances available.

The first S.R. machine (Cyberknife) is available to treat NHS patients this year is at London’s Mount Vernon Hospital. In the South West, Derriford Hospital plans to provide Radiosurgery using either the Varian-TrueBeam or the Novalis Tx in April 2012, being the “Hub” servicing all seven Hospitals in our area of activity offering Pancreatic Cancer patients this radical treatment.
